HUSTLE & HEART!

My hometown team the Celtics killed it in Game 3 against the Magic and I'm hoping for a win tonight to sweep the series. I mention Game 3 in this posting because I was SO IMPRESSED with the way the Celtics played. I am talking about their hustle and their heart here. The Celtics were up by a lot, but as was shown in Games 1 & 2...a blowout game can turn nail-bitingly close in the last few minutes. Even with that knowledge, I was impressed that the Celtics had such a comfortable lead, but were still operating at an effort level of a close game. Their intensity level up and down the field (and even diving on the court to maintain or gain possession) made me think about my own hustle, not just in the gym, but in life in general. I must admit there have been many many times where I have lacked HUSTLE...and at times I could even possibly be a gold medal contendor for procrastination.

This week however, I am inspired...inspired to BRING IT!

So that is what this week will be about for me...
I have made a list (11 things on it for today) and I plan to ATTACK IT! I'll keep you posted on my hustle...

What about you? Is there something in your life that could possibly require a little extra hustle this week? Just visualize Rondo diving to the floor and winning posession...that is heart, and I.....LIKE IT!
Happy Monday Everyone!

Kale Chips? We'll see....

So...I am going to make some KALE CHIPS tonight after work. I have heard from several sources that kale chips are a great (very tasty) alternative to potato chips. Basically, you buy kale, chop it into bite sized bits, add some extra virgin olive oil and salt and pop it in the oven. You bake the kale at 350-370 degrees for about 15 minutes and then you can broil them for 5 minutes after if you like them extra crispy.
To be 100% honest...I am not incredibly convinced this will be a good experiment, but I have to give it a try. Who knows? Maybe I will love kale and wonder how I have lived my life thus far without it? Maybe I won't like it...in which case, I can cross kale off the list. Well - I'll keep you posted. Until then, Happy Friday Everyone!

UPDATE: THE KALE CHIPS ARE A TOTAL HIT!!!! I LOVED THEM!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIVING THEM A TRY!!! :-)

Motivation to Keep Trying and Keep Moving Forward

"Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat."
 — F. Scott Fitzgerald

Just a little quote to keep you motivated.  If you try something and it doesn't turn out as you planned, it doesn't mean you can't try again with different results.  Just keep on keepin' on!  In life you choose your own adventure and make your own way.  What is your adventure?  What is you way?

How to Find a GOOD Doctor

Hi Everyone!  In post #2 for this blog I would like to address WHERE TO BEGIN on the journey of becoming fit and healthy.  Often times we want to make a change, but have no idea where to start.  Well, on the road map of health the first stop should be your doctor!

Before you begin any new program you want to make sure you are medically cleared to do so and address all possible health issues that might impede your progress.  So, first thing is first, you need an assessment of your health and if it has been awhile since you have been to the doctor, that is probably a good place to start.  The problem is, nobody really LIKES going to the doctor, so it is important to find one that makes you feel comfortable so you don't avoid going when you need to.

I know we have all probably had a bad experience or two with doctors and there is probably a blog somewhere about all the horror stories! lol  It is definitely true that it is hard to find a good doctor, but I promise there are some great ones out there!  Sometimes it just requires a little research and a little good old fashion Q & A.  Here are some tips to help you find one of the good ones:

First Post of the Site!

This is my first posting on the new blog and I am very excited to start up and get going!  The theme for April is trying and failing and getting back up again to keep moving forward.

When I was putting this blog together I ran into MANY road blocks.  Basically, I had no idea what I was doing and when you don't know what you are doing, trying to be successful can be beyond challenging!  I spent probably about 2 hours trying to figure out how to get a button back that I accidentally deleted.  Though I was very frustrated for those 2 hours...I didn't give up and I now have my button (yeah! Celebrate the small victories!) and furthermore, I now know what to do should it ever disappear again! :-)

I say this because we should expect some failures along the way in everything we do.  The important thing is to learn from that experience and don't beat yourself up about it...it happened, it's over and well....we won't do that again! lol

So while we will all have lives with many mistakes, if we keep at it, we will have lives full of moments of drive, determination, and victory and those moments makes mistakes simply laughable!

Think about what you have learned from your mistakes, how you have laughed about them and what they have led you to achieve!  All the best, Rebecca
